Yuantong Temple

With a history of more than 1,200 years, Yuantong Temple in Kunming is one of the grandest as well as the most important Buddhist temple in Yunnan Province. Unlike other Buddhist temples, you enter Yuantong Temple from above and descend along a gently sloping garden path with its extensive array of flowers. From the top of the stairs, you are presented with a terrific panoramic view of the entire temple complex.

Surrounding the pond are a series of halls where you will find worshippers, people chatting with their life stories, ongoing  classes in Buddhist scriptures, an exhibit of temple photographs, and more. There are special Buddhist services held twice a month and the entrance fee is 6 Yuan per person.

You can get to Yuantong Temple by taking subway line #2 to Chuanxingulou and walk west for approximately 12 minutes to Yuantong Temple or take bus no# 85, 92, 95, 100, 101, 119, 187, 235 to Yuantongjie. Now you know there is an interesting place in Kunming for you to visit. Happy traveling.
