Papaya salad or Som Tam is one of Thailand’s national dishes. It is very simple, authentic, easy, refreshing and perfect for any occasions. Ingredients needed are as follows:
- 5 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 3 tablespoons fish sauce
- 3 tablespoons golden brown sugar
- 4 garlic cloves
- 8-10 cherry tomatoes
- 3 Chinese long beans
- 1 1/2 pound of green papaya
- 2-3 red thai chili with seeds, thinly sliced
- 1 cup of fresh chopped cilantro
Preparation takes only approximately 15 – 20 minutes.
Lightly grind the fresh lime juice, fish sauce, brown sugar, and garlic. Once this is done, set the dressing aside. Next is rinse thoroughly the long beans and chop into smaller pieces. Wash the green papaya, peel the skin and shred it. Cut in half the cherry tomatoes. Combine the papaya, long beans, cherry tomatoes, and the thinly sliced thai chili. Pour the dressing over and lightly toss it. Add some cilantro on top and the mouthwatering papaya salad is ready to enjoy.
