Timeless Divinity



Founded in 996 AD, Tabo monastery is located in the Spiti valley and considered the oldest continuously operating Buddhist monastery in the Himalayas, and certainly one of the oldest in the world. The monastery consists of nine temples, four decorated stupas, and cave shrines.




Its ancient and traditional Tibetan scroll paintings and wooden sculptures, although fading, are believed among the last remaining on earth. This is the reason why tourists come to Tabo monastery to catch a glimpse of this fine historical artifacts.
